DM Funnel Calculator
Your DM campaign is a funnel whether you model it or not. This calculator maps every stage — sent, seen, replied, positive, booked, closed — so you can see exactly where prospects leak out and what each stage is worth in revenue.
The multiplication problem
Funnels multiply, and multiplication is brutal. Five stages at plausible rates: 1,000 DMs × 5% reply × 30% positive × 40% booked × 20% close = 1.2 clients. Each rate sounds reasonable alone; multiplied together they turn a thousand messages into one deal. That's not a reason to despair — it's a reason to know your numbers, because improving any single stage lifts the whole chain.
Find the leak, then fix the leak
- Low reply rate? Targeting and opening message. More volume just wastes more messages.
- Low positive reply rate?Offer clarity and audience fit — people answer but don't want it.
- Low booking rate? Friction. Make the next step smaller, clearer, and worth their time.
- Low close rate? Qualification, pricing, or the sales conversation itself.
The calculator scores your funnel's risk and points its recommendations at the weakest stage, so you invest effort where the math says it pays.
Beyond the funnel: unit economics
Once the funnel is modeled, the economics fall out automatically: cost per booked call, cost per client, revenue per DM, revenue per reply, break-even volume, and ROI multiple. Save the scenario, build a conservative variant, and compare them before committing budget.
Frequently asked questions
What are the stages of a DM funnel?
Sent → seen (optional) → replies → positive replies → booked calls → clients → revenue. Each stage converts at its own rate, and the final result is the product of all of them.
Why model positive replies separately from replies?
Because 'no thanks' is a reply too. Splitting them exposes offer-fit problems: high replies with low positive replies means people respond but don't care about what you're offering.
Which funnel stage should I fix first?
The one furthest below its healthy range, weighted by leverage. The calculator's recommendations point at the weakest stage automatically — usually reply rate early on, close rate for mature funnels.
Does the funnel calculator handle seen/open rates?
Yes — the seen rate input is optional. Add it when you have data on what share of DMs actually get viewed; leave it blank otherwise.
